ISM PMI Tracker
The ISM PMI Tracker lets you explore the sub-components behind the headline PMI—month over month and across time.
How to use it
- Group: switch between Manufacturing and Services.
- View: choose MoM Δ (pct) or level-style views to see momentum or absolute readings.
- Months: set the look-back window; the selection applies to both the heatmap and the chart.
- Weights: toggle equal vs ISM headline weights to see how components aggregate into PMI.
Read the visuals
- Heatmap: colors highlight acceleration/deceleration by series each month.
- Stacked chart: compares component moves in the same window, with the weighted composite (PMI, EW Δ) overlaid.
Why it matters
Broad PMI direction is driven by just a few levers—New Orders, Production/Business Activity, Employment, and Inventories. Tracking their momentum helps flag turning points earlier than the headline.
